ChordCrack 2.0 is a major update packed with new ways to learn, practice, and explore chords.
Browse all 52+ chords organized by category — Basic, Barre, Blues, and Power. See finger positions on an interactive guitar neck visualization and play audio in multiple modes: full chord, slow strum, individual strings, bass, and treble.
Download all chord audio for offline play. Tap "Download for Offline" in Settings to cache ~80 audio files in one go. Once downloaded, the app works without an internet connection.
Game screens have been completely redesigned to be compact and fit on one screen without scrolling. Hint dots, progress bars, audio controls, and chord selection grids are all tighter. Result feedback is now a sleek inline horizontal bar.
All game modes — Daily Challenge, Power Chords, Barre Chords, Blues Chords, and Mixed Practice — now have a pause button with a proper pause menu offering Resume, Restart, and Quit.
Instead of a tutorial you skip, contextual coaching tips appear during your first actual game. Five coaching moments guide you step by step through playing audio, picking chords, using hints, unlocking audio options, and scoring.

No! ChordCrack is designed for ear training, not guitar playing. All you need is your device and headphones (recommended for the best experience). The app trains your ability to recognize chords by sound alone, which will improve your overall musicianship.
ChordCrack adapts to all skill levels. Beginners start with major and minor chords, intermediate players work on barre and power chords, and advanced users can tackle complex jazz voicings and chord progressions. The app automatically adjusts difficulty based on your performance.
Daily Challenges consist of 5 quick rounds featuring basic chords. Complete them each day to maintain your streak and earn bonus XP. They're designed to take just 2-3 minutes, making it easy to maintain consistent practice even on busy days.
Practice Modes let you focus on specific chord types: Power Chords for rock fundamentals, Barre Chords for advanced patterns, Blues Chords for 7ths and extensions, or Mixed Practice for all chord types. Each mode tracks separate statistics so you can identify your strengths and areas for improvement. In 2.0, all practice modes now include a proper pause menu with Resume, Restart, and Quit options.
New in 2.0, the Chord Reference Library lets you browse all 52+ chords organized by category (Basic, Barre, Blues, Power). For each chord, you can see finger positions on a guitar neck visualization and play audio in multiple modes — full chord, slow strum, individual strings, bass, and treble. It's a great way to study chords outside of gameplay.
Yes! In version 2.0, you can download all chord audio for offline play. Go to Settings and tap "Download for Offline" to cache approximately 80 audio files. Once downloaded, the app works without an internet connection. You can manage your cached files from the same settings screen.
Our progressive hint system reveals information gradually: first slower playback, then individual string sounds, followed by jumbled finger positions, and finally partial chord diagrams. Each hint costs a small amount of points, encouraging you to try without help first while ensuring you're never completely stuck.
Yes! Add friends using their username or invite code, compare stats, see their progress on the leaderboard, and motivate each other to improve. You can also see global rankings and compete with players worldwide.
All your progress is automatically saved to the cloud when you're logged in. This means you can switch between devices and your stats, achievements, and progress will sync seamlessly. You can also export your data anytime from the settings menu.
Subscriptions can be managed through your device's settings. On iOS, go to Settings > Your Name > Subscriptions. Select ChordCrack and choose to cancel. You'll retain access until the end of your billing period.
